Skate Off Heerde

This weekend is full of racing in Europe, there is the WIC in Italy, a couple of marathons in Germany and the Unive Skate Off in Holland.

I'm going to race in Holland at the Unive Skate Off, it's a two day track meet consisting of two sprint events, two distance events and a team pursuit. I didn't take away good memories from this event last year so I'm hoping for better ones this year. I've had a quick look at the weather forecast and it doesn't look flash. I've packed my MPC Storm Surges just in case we end up racing on the road in the rain.

  1. Hello Nicole,
very nice to keep us up to date throughout the skate season. Welcome back in Europe.
    May I ask two questions:
    - MPC Storm: When do you put them on. Only when the roads are already wet. Or even when the chance is fairly high they get wet ?

    - Races in the Netherland
I've been looking around but never found a web site to get infos and schedule about the various races there.
Is there a site / information source you can recommend ?
To my knowledge racing in the Netherland is different to e.g. Germany. Looks like they like to attact constantly ...

    Have a good weekend
    Regards Markus

  2. Hi Markus

I have worn the MPC Storm Surge in the dry before for a whole marathon because I thought it was going to rain. At the World Championships in Spain I wore them and it ended up raining about 5 minutes after the race finished, I still ended up 5th. I also wore a few of them for a WIC marathon in Dijon and it turned out dry for the whole race and I won on rain wheels. So you can still do ok on them if it doesn't rain.

If it's 50/50 the best option would be to put on the MPC Gold Street Fight, they have more roll than the Storm Surge but are not bad for grip if you get caught out in the rain.

PatinCarrera is a good place to start if you are looking for races http://www.patincarrera.com/agenda/index.html
the agenda on the website has a calendar with a lot of races world wide, it also usually has a link to the organisations site to find out more info.

I have only raced a few marathons in Holland, but in the ones I have raced there have been a lot more attacks than usual.

    Hope this helpful
    Nicole

  3. Hi Nicole,

yes indeed, thanks for keeping us up-to-date. I hope nothing happens like in previous years and you'll be able to tell us news about races, not hospital visits...

    Hi Markus,

try http://skatingonline.nl/skeeleren for the NL races.
